West40 presented plans for our St. Joseph property and answered questions at the Village of Westchester board meeting on April 9 as part of the village’s approval process. The next step in the process would be a zoning hearing, which has yet to be scheduled. The zoning hearing is expected to include a larger presentation by West40 and public comments.
Meanwhile, West40 is working on a timeline for installation of HVAC equipment in the front building. Asbestos abatement is ongoing in the structures on the north side of the property. Demolition planning for the north structures has begun and the job has been awarded. Still, asbestos abatement must be completed before a demolition timeline can be set.
West40 remains committed to creating a school that would serve approximately 40 youth-in-need, including foster students and those with social-emotional concerns.
