West40 remains committed to transforming the former St. Joseph High School into a state-of-the-art learning facility and living space for approximately 40 youth-in-need, including foster students and those with social-emotional concerns. As of January 9, 2024, we are excited to share the following updates:
-West40 has submitted its final zoning application to the Village of Westchester and is awaiting the village’s response.
-West40 is moving ahead with the bidding process for asbestos abatement and demolition of the north buildings.
-West40 has received interior design drawings of the office area from the architect for the proposed renovation of the south building.
-West40 has extended security measures on the property in response to a single break-in by six individuals in December.
There is no firm construction timeline or expected opening date as of yet.
West40 is in the process of applying for grants that could accelerate the renovation process. The school will be funded by state agencies in support of Governor Pritzker’s commitment to providing behavioral services to youth.
