West40 is excited to share an update about our plans for St. Joseph High School in Westchester, as we have reached a pivotal next step in the process of transforming the school into a state-of-the-art learning facility.
We are in the process of applying for grants that could accelerate the renovation process. Meanwhile, West40 has agreed to the Village of Westchester’s request to go through an official zoning process. There is no firm construction timeline or expected opening date as of yet.
We remain committed to creating a school that will serve approximately 40 youth-in-need, including foster students and those with social-emotional concerns. The school will be funded by state agencies such as the Department of Children and Family Services and the Department of Human Services in support of Governor Pritzker’s commitment to providing behavioral health services to youth.
Please note that West40 has no intention of building new structures on the 30 acre campus. The south building that borders Cermak Road will be renovated and the two vacant buildings on the north end of the campus will be demolished.
We remain committed to being excellent neighbors in a wonderful community.
