Earlier this year, West40 Executive Director Dr. Mark Klaisner was selected to serve on a U.S. Department of Education Regional Advisory Committee tasked with improving education and instructional quality across the Midwest and beyond.
Thank you to all of the educators, administrators, and community members who provided Dr. Klaisner’s team the input they can use to help make the suggested improvements a reality.
As of late October, Dr. Klaisner’s team has collected the data and identified several priorities, including early childhood education, which will be submitted to the U. S. Secretary of Education in the near future.
Other priorities that the Regional Advisory Committee is considering include teacher workforce, student well-being and mental health, evidence-based literacy instruction/science of reading, and supporting special populations.
