Description
Content and Language Integration as a Means of Bridging Success (CLIMBSTM) is a course designed to assist K-12 educators in applying the WIDA English Language Proficiency (ELP) Standards to scaffold instruction for the English language learners (ELLs) in their classrooms. The course provides an introduction to the use of a scientifically-based approach to scaffolding instruction as a means of incorporating the WIDA standards into the academic content and language instruction in classrooms that include English language learners (ELLs). Participants in the CLLMBSTM course will gain a thorough understanding of how to integrate the WIDA English Language Proficiency Standards and content standards into classroom instruction and assessment, apply a research-based, comprehensive approach to scaffolding or sheltering academic content and building language proficiency for English language learners that can benefit all learners and use data from ACCESS for ELLsB, state achievement tests and classroom assessment to inform instruction. School teams of ESL and general education/content area teachers who serve English Language Learners (ELL) are encouraged to participate.
