A balanced literacy program provides students with instruction and guidance as well as opportunities for practice and application. This workshop explores the relationship of the Read-Aloud, Shared Reading, Guided Reading and Independent Reading within the Literacy Block. Participants will learn how to balance the four components in terms of the amount of support that teachers provide and the expectations for student participation. Attendees will receive a valued resource of The Continuum of Literacy Learning which provides grade-by-grade goals and level-by-level goals. |
